On 29 April 2018, I joined the Klang River Discovery Walk. Always passed by this area during my bike ride and ever since it was launched August 2017, more and more visitors flock to see the Blue River Corridor. This Blue River is from Klang River treated from Class 3 to Class 2b. This means the water from Klang river is now contactable with human skin. This initiative by the government, local councils and 26 other agencies started since 2014.
The walk started 9am with safety briefing and we were given goodie bags with a water bottle to fill water. We were given simple breakfast and a fruit. It started cloudy but quickly turned hot and sunny. We were divided into 3 groups colour coded. Each group had a group of 10 pax. Each group walked about 1.5km with explanation about the River of Life project and later each group took turns to participate in 4 different activities. The young children had a different activity-the Young Citizen Scientist. The adults had water sampling, went up the observation view deck, exhibition on the various River of Life Key Initiatives and went to see the Saliage Water Treatment Plant at Masjid Jamek (SWTP). The last one was an eye opener as it was rare opportunity to see the machinaries underneath the earth how the treatment plant works to treat Klang river from a Class 3 to Class 2b.
Here are some photos taken.
