Malacca touring
Went touring down south to Malacca from Feb 2-5 2017. Purpose was to attend a workshop to be held at one of the hotels. Decided to cycle down instead of taking the bus with the rest of the workshop attendees.
It was exactly 3 years ago since I first started touring and coincidentally to Malacca. Looking back at the previous pictures when I used my big bike to tour, it was memorable. This time, I am faster and stronger eventhough I was on a small foldable bicycle.
Weather was very kind to us, with overcast skies and beautiful sunset. We had a puncture and I waited for my partner to arrive. I had the time to reflect, admire my surroundings, even watched a herd of cows return home as their shepherd herd them back with a motorbike. Time stood still as I sip my water, watch everything surrounding me in detail. Even paying attention to my breath and heartbeat.
As tired and weary I was, waiting and waiting, I realized with each pedal I take, under the star lite skies, at some parts, no lights at all, I feel rejuvenated. The feeling of being able to ride freely without restrictions. Foul smell every now and them, with mixture of freshly mown grass and occassional cow dung by the roadsides. We arrived at our hostel around 12 hours later, much to my delight.
We went exploring early the next day, to the morning market and attended the morning briefing of the workshop. We decided to go watch sunset at the famous Bukit Cina-where Princess Hang Li Poh was buried. Amazing golden sunset-as round and bright fiery orange as an egg yolk. The image vividly lingers on my mind till now.
